Reviewing mailing addresses and address requirement

Are mailing addresses formatted properly when a donor provides this? Are they verified as deliverable?

Sometimes you need to collect a Mailing Address from your donors. Usually, you can make this optional. You'll see a higher conversion rate as many donors will refuse to donate if their mailing address and phone number are required - up to 30%.

When making the decision of whether to require an address, ask yourself and your team: What is more important/useful to the organization: The donation funds along with name and email address (as well as geolocation), or 30% fewer donations that also have the mailing address and/or phone number?

It's a real question and can impact your bottom line.

When mailing addresses are collected, Fundraise Up always provides a complete, and sometimes verified address. We always employ autocomplete technologies to ensure a full address.

There are three states addresses can have:

Validated: The address has all necessary components and elements necessary for mailing

Verified: Same as validated, but also is verified with the postal system to be deliverable

Confirmed: This utilizes the Google Maps API to confirm the location exists
